I saw many have stated that their "cakes" fell apart during cooking or were hard to continue together. To right this, crack an egg in your mixture and mix well before forming into cakes and frying. This will continue them together and will also assure even browning. This is a uncomplicated and dish with a wonderful taste. Thank you for posting information technology.

I thought that this recipe was terrific and needed not also much time to fix. I did, yet; dip the cakes into egg and roll into bread crumbs. This helped the cakes stay together because they have a tendency to fall apart when frying. I served this with a mixture of one tb. dijon mustard, iii tb. mayonaisse. My six year sometime daughter came back for seconds. Dandy with a tossed salad.

I liked this much better than the homemade corned beef hash I made recently. Liked them even improve when I fabricated a few additions--a adept shake of Cajun seasoning, a couple of cloves of garlic (minced, thrown in toward the end of the onion cooking) and nigh 2/3 loving cup corn. With a nice salad, it was a quick and succulent repast.

Good hash, merely it needs a piffling more flavor. I like corned beefiness hash and I like the thought of making it fresh I besides like the idea of making it into cakes. It won't fry into a difficult, fast-food hash dark-brown because the mashed potatoes have too much water. Side by side time I'll utilize more corned beef, possibly more onion, and maybe some bread crumbs to absorb a little wet. Just all the same, its a good base.

Exist PATIENT!!!! Get by the recipe, refrigerate for at least half an hr before cooking and don't plow too many times while cooking and these will be perfect. Bask :o)!

my husband loves corn beef hash and this ane is a keeper! definitely add the egg to keep the cakes from falling apart. wonderful flavor and simple to ready.

I am not sure where to outset with this one....the flavor was so ON it'south not funny (and I think that has everything to exercise with how the corned beef is prepared), but these cakes don't stay together. I added an egg, and would add another next time. I also added almost a teaspoon and a one-half of dijon mustard and a minor palmful of dried chives. Formed the patties and let them residue for a good hour and they still crumbled in the pan. Ultimately, I only added liquid and made a hash out of them. It was delicious, but this recipe needs to call for at least 2 eggs and perhaps something more in order to demark the mixture. Thanks!

I simply made these Corned Beefiness Hash Cakes with my leftovers from St Paddy'southward day. They were slap-up! I added an egg to the mixture. My hubby loved them and I volition add them to my recipe box.
03/19/2008
These hashcakes are just like the ones my mom used to make! I used leftover corned beef and boiled potatoes from St. Patricks, mashed the potatoes, and followed the recipe. Y'all have to utilize an egg equally a sticking agent, I don't see how information technology would concord together without. My family ate them all in less than 15 minutes! Great employ for leftovers.

O.K. I tried these this morning time, and yes they did want to fall apart, nevertheless, letting the batch sit down for about an hour, and they firm upward. In that location actually isn't much flavor to them, added onion powder, and garlic pulverisation, but yet kind of tasteless. Put the remainder of the batch in the freezer.

My grandmother made an near identical recipe and formed the mixture into walnut sized balls as opposed to patties. She served them at parties and gatherings along with her homemade cocktail sauce and dips.

nifty recipe..take fabricated this for years with a few exceptions. I adda egg as a folder, and used canned corned beef.
01/13/2010
This was really tasty, fabricated from tinned corned beef. Did add an egg to the mixture and put in fridge for xxx mins and covered in flour before frying, as mentioned in comments. Will def be making again very soon. Also made also much this time, so one-half went in freezer.
06/03/2010
Only ok, probably won't brand again.
12/01/2009
My mother made this for years....yeah, you lot need to add an egg as binder; but, there is also three other things to do to continue the ingredients from falling apart...ane. make stiff potatoes, 2. refigerate mixture until thoroughly cold then 3. lightly bloom patty before frying. Also, mom always made this recipe using canned corned beef.

crawly recipe, simply similar my mom used to brand! Had a actually hard time getting them flipped in the pan even with the added egg, so my genius husband came up with the great thought of using our pannini maker. Worked amazing!! will be making this over again for sure.
12/19/2009
It volition assist keep them together if you brand them smaller & med-loftier heat with little oil. Allow them get nice & crispy on one side & you should have no problem flipping;) Had these this morning & the hubby loved 'em. Accept fun chefin' it upward, I did!

This is a dish we brand a lot in Bermuda and we add i egg, parsley, thyme, garlic powder. Also dip in flour before frying. Brand certain y'all don't fry the onions in too much oil equally information technology volition stop the mixture from keeping together.
03/17/2007
What a great style to use up a little corned beefiness. I did add an egg as suggested and had no problem with the cakes falling autonomously. Otherwise I folled the recipe exactly except I didn't use whatever table salt because I used potatoes cooked in the corned beef goop which was plenty salty. Volition brand these again. TFTR

I made Colcannon and Guinness Corned Beef for St. Pat's day and then I fabricated mine with the Colcannon and the Guinness Corned Beef left overs, Astonishing. I did put the patties into flour earlier frying, information technology helped then be less sticky. The dinner was fabulous and the breakfast was but as skilful! We may have this more than than once a year!

I make something like this which my family really loves. I use 1 tin can of corned beef. Instead of mashed potatoes, I bake a couple of potatoes in the microwave and brew it into the corned beef. I add a couple of eggs, dark-green onions, mix well. Class the patties and fry in oil. This recipe does not accept the trouble of falling apart.
02/05/2014
This was ok, I used canned hash instead of the mashed potatoes. Was a trivial bland. Used mainly the cooking method and the proffer to add an egg. My FIL has nostalgia for these---his mom used to make them. He wanted me to make some for the super basin appies. I attempted them! Added a slice of cheese to melt on the top.

This was a great base recipe. After reading some of the reviews and the bug near them falling apart, I added an egg and some panko and for flavor some Lawry's seasoned salt. Also gave the mixture a few pulses in the food processor which helped with the binding, I remember. Fried them upward in olive oil and my kids wolfed them downwards. Yum!!

I had the total opposite problem of nigh reviewers - my mixture was FAR too moisture to brand patties out of! I did add the egg AND employ instant mashed potatoes and that must be the difference... I wonder how dry other people's potatoes must exist that the cakes a) tin can be formed at all and b) crumble upon cooking. I added some frozen shredded hash browns to give mine some more than bulk, so but glopped it on the griddle similar really thick pancake concoction. The egg helped them crisp up on the outside so they still flipped nicely... went over well at my role's weekly team breakfast!

Have been making for years. Mom made these when I was a little kid. Nosotros utilize left over beef roast instead of corned beef. Today I used left over venison roast. I really don't measure since we have been making for years. The deviation is that we grind the meat with a meat grinder and we use a egg. It is easier to shred, but I feel y'all go a more than even texture and sense of taste by grinding. If y'all don't want to mess your hands up by patting, employ a measuring cup, put in fry pan and squash with a spatula. I prefer to use olive oil. If you desire to freeze, spray a pan with cooking spray, make the patties by using the measuring loving cup, spatula method. When froze put into freeze bags. It as well is a must with me that I use ketchup on elevation of the patty. I as well put ketchup on top of corned beef hash and fried potatoes.

I tried this this morn and they were great. I also add two eggs and caned corned beefiness
02/23/2016
I followed the advise of and so many of you. I put and egg to bind. I coated with panko. I place in refrigerator x 1 hour. I did non flip more than once. and for my own spin, I identify a sunny side up egg on top. delish!

My mom made these too! She'd sometimes add peas, if they were left over from Sunday dinner. She didn't endeavor to make them into patties though. It was simply fried upward in 1 piece in a heavy frying pan. Our serving was the size of the egg-turner. She'd also sometimes make an indentation to 'fry' an egg on height.
04/21/2009
Cakes fell apart a bit, even using an egg, but notwithstanding succulent. Used the mayo/mustard combo that another reviewer suggested equally a dipping sauce - *very* tasty.
03/11/2004
I made these for an Irish gaelic potluck and they tasted all right, but non like the corned beef hash that I am used to. Likewise, they fell apart and so I dipped them in egg and breaded them which helped. Not my favorite and won't make them once again.
05/22/2012
the common complaint with them holding together was true: these were too soft to turn. when I make regular potato pancakes from mashed taters I make mine with an egg and two TB of flour mixed into the taters to become them to concur together....so treated this the same mode....add together a fiddling flour and ane beaten egg to the mix. Personally I also added i/8 tsp garlic for added flavor...so I liked the basic idea of the hasbbrown CAKE and then doctored it upward a little more.

I made corned beef rissoles using 'dry' mashed potato, no milk or butter added, corned beef, sping onion, mixed herbs, garlic, and mild reddish chilli. I whisked an egg and put half into the mixture to demark it. And so shaped cakes using flour on my hands and a board. So Refrigderate for an 60 minutes to house the cakes. So heat a little oil in a hot heavy bottomed pan. Cook for at least 6 mins until very very slightly burnt then turn and cook other side for six minutes. I serve the cakes with kokosnoot rice and beans (gungo). Delicious. Leftover cakes are actually tasty in a sandwich. Corned beef rissoles/ cakes are one of my favourite condolement dishes too.

I made this recipe with regular roast beef and it was excellent. Made a double batch and baked the actress for twenty minutes (warmed through). It was very practiced both ways!!

I left out the onions. These cakes are REALLY expert. The smell when they are frying up is amazing, and then when you lot finally eat it....with these around we didn't demand bacon with breakfast. Nosotros did have problems keeping the cakes together, maybe because nosotros fried information technology in oil and that was non specified in the recipe, but I dont think that was it. I fifty-fifty tried adding about 2 tbsp of flour to the mixture, just it didn't help out. But I do recommend adding that flour, because it gives the cake a density that was nice. I will have to endeavour the proposition by TheKissingCook side by side fourth dimension. The lady at the deli counter was squeamish enough to shave the corned beefiness for us, so that was easy, and we used the unabridged half pound, hoping to brand the cakes stick together more than. Nosotros besides used butter and herb instant mashed potatoes (took three minutes to brand in the microwave) - might try cheddar or roasted garlic flavored, side by side time. I also similar the idea of corn, so I may try that also, next fourth dimension. Nosotros served this with feta scrambled eggs, and it went very well together. WE LOVED THESE CAKES!!

Pitiful, hit done before I was.... egg folder is wise. The recipe is besides easily adaptable for any who want a little more season. I use a single average size fresh mushroom and dice it up into modest bits and, if available even quite thin strip off a yellow sweet pepper also finely chopped to stir in mixture. Plus a pinch of garlic. Information technology tin be served nicely with a bit of chow on the side.
03/25/2018
I make my corned beefiness with golden potatoes. I diced leftover potatoes and added them instead of mashed. I sauted my onions in olive oil and added Adobo and an egg to the mixture. My Irishman loved them.
04/10/2020
Thanks It was skilful. But it took a long fourth dimension to melt...wasn't as quick as you would think it would be.
06/12/2015
unsure what happened here, they fell autonomously, and we're as well loose. I may effort the panini printing, as suggested, every bit the flavor was fine, other than they were soaked in grease. Possibly my grease wasn't hot enough to make sure yours is.
10/26/2016
This is how my Mom always made her corned beef hash cakes..beloved this..one of my condolement foods. Like my mom, I always accept this with marinated cucumbers! Tasty

This was FANTASTIC and just what I was looking for. I actually did not want cakes, only wanted corned beef hash. My husband loves the canned hash for breakfast with his eggs. Too me it smells worse than can canis familiaris food. I gave this a whirl this forenoon with my left over corned beef. He went to work a happy homo.
03/27/2022
I didn't read over the reviews prior to making this and that was a mistake. The recipe doesn't say to practice so merely after forming the cakes I put them in the fridge overnight to firm up. They were squeamish and house but completely fell apart within seconds in the pan and no I did non try to flip. I concluded up adding an egg to the rest of the cakes after reading the reviews and that did the pull a fast one on. Y'all really need to use an egg unless your leftover potatoes are completely plain with no butter and fifty-fifty and then I think y'all still need the egg. This is a keen mode to change up leftover corned beef and the beefiness/irish potato ratio was spot on. You just need to add together an egg.

Dear this recipe my mom use to get in when I was young.
01/17/2014
I have tried making corned beef hash several and was never satisfied. I just couldn't seem to get plenty flavor. I recall using mashed potatoes helps the flavor to permeate throughout. To salvage fourth dimension, I used instant mashed potatoes and made them a piddling dry. I only fabricated ii small patties just to attempt them, and I didn't have too much trouble holding them together. I put the rest of the mixture in the refrigerator to have for breakfast, and I think I volition try adding an egg. I believe leaving them overnight volition raise the flavor. Can't look to try them in the morning time with a fried egg on pinnacle !
